Gina Carrera: Profile & Interview

With 157 video titles to her name as well as countless magazine photoshoots, Gina was one of the leading performers of her generation. Since her retirement in 1997 she has changed her stage name to her real name, julie Winchester, when performing - which is now primarily female wrestling productions as well as fetish work. We caught up with her after many fan requests for more information and got the low down on her time performing as well as more information on what she currently does and how you can see her in action .

Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Ft Worth, Texas and raised in several other States, we moved a lot when I was growing.

When you were growing up what did you want to be??

I wanted to be a hairdresser and when I got to be around 10 I wanted to be a singer/performer.

What made you get into the adult industry?

I used to look at a lot of mens magazines and thought that would be a good way to get some money so I could stay in Los Angeles, and I wanted to be one of those sexy girls, well I found an agent and was in every magazine at least twice and my agent said Julie no one can shoot you anymore you've basically been shot too much so he suggested I do a loop that's what was happening format wise then, it took some convincing but I did it and after that I got swarmed with offers of BIG productions shot on film and so... Gina Carrera was born.

What was the first movie you ever performed in?

The very first movie I did was Stiff Competition. I played Tammy the tongue (ED: A 1984 Caballero Home Video release, available on DVD and downloadable on the net).

Sources disagree as to your first year in the industry, was it 1983 or 1984??

It was 1983. (ED: Although her first film release was in 1984, her performance was filmed in 1983)

What's the Wildest sexual thing you have ever done?

The wildest sex thing was on film and it took place in Stiff Competition 5 guys surrounded me and jacked off on my body at the same time

Have you ever had any surgery on your body/enhancements?

I have never had any plastic surgery of any kind and don't intend too.. I'm all about working out to keep it tight!!

Do you have any role models/people you look up to in the industry?

I look up to everyone in the industry basically it takes a special kind of person to be that free with your sexuality

Have you ever watched releases featuring yourself?

I just watched some of my early stuff from Callballero, The Gina Carrera collection one of my fans sent it to me, It was fun, I enjoyed watching myself

Have you ever been featured on mainstream TV or in magazines?

The mainstream stuff I've done is a commercial for NBC news, I part in a movie called Surburbia, I was the hostess for an infomercial, another small part in a movie called One Dark Night, several singing gigs including a tour of Korea and several other states

Ever have any problems working with people in the industry?

I never had a problem working with anyone in the business all nice people.

What factors caused you to change your stage name to Julie Winchester?

Julie Winchester is my real name, I love my name and don't mind using it.

You are still performing, care to give us a run down of what you are up to nowadays?

Yes, I wrestle, box, do a lot of fetish work, and sell it online, as well as doing sensual massage part-time (ED: You can see more of this at her official site, JulieWinchester.com).

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years time?

I've never been too much of a planner I like to live in the now so my hopes for 5 to 10 years are to healthy and happy!!!! ... Right now I'm in the process of building some more sites I'll keep you posted.
